Actors will also leave the program with free headshots and a filmed stage showreel scene.

All participants, mentors and producers are unpaid, all profits from the show (if any) will go towards future shows, programs and trainings!

ABOUT THE SHOW:

Several years after same sex marriage became legal in the UK, this new ensemble play offers a sharp, Gen Z reflection on queer marriage, set during a hens’ night in a shared house. The audience enters through the back garden and is welcomed by the head bridesmaid into a brightly decorated home that has been transformed into an intimate performance space, where DIY party décor and everyday domestic details create an immersive atmosphere shaped by the realities of young renters.

When the bride-to-be fails to appear at her own celebration, tensions quickly surface among the group, especially between two ex-partners who have not properly resolved their past. As they wait, the friends argue, joke and circle around bigger questions about love, commitment and whether marriage still holds meaning for queer people today. Blending humour with emotional confrontation, the play captures the divide between romantics and sceptics, while lightly touching on broader questions about the history and purpose of marriage as an institution.

ROLES:

KYRA (F), Courtney’s level-headed friend, who observes much of the group drama with a kind of cool distance and irony.
ASHLEIGH (F), Courtney’s more anxious friend and a member of the bridal party, who tries to diffuse the tensions within the rest of the group.
BOBBIE (F), Courtney’s closest friend and the maid of honour for her wedding with Kat. She is the only straight girl there.
GRACE (F), Mary’s temperamental ex and part of the bridal party. Grace is foul-mouthed, lewd, sarcastic and in-yer-face - the type who could pick a fight in an empty room.

MARY (F), the yin to Grace’s yan. Mary is (slightly) less fiery, more deadpan and cool-headed but still locked in a bitter feud.
MITCH (M), Kat’s brother and Courtney’s impending brother-in-law. Mitch is a fish out of water, having never met the others. The token male, he has a kind of happy-go-luckiness that ingratiates him with the others.
