WHEN IS MURDER OKAY?
Dead Wrong is a dark psychological thriller about manipulation, dependency and the slow unravelling of a toxic friendship.

Fiadh and Nolan are in hiding after a series of violent events. Bound by years of shared history and secrecy, their isolation forces them into constant proximity. Fiadh is confident, controlled and unwavering in her version of the truth. Nolan is anxious, exhausted and beginning to question the loyalty that once defined their bond.

As the pressure of hiding intensifies, Nolan starts to notice inconsistencies in Fiadh’s stories and patterns in her behaviour that no longer sit right. What once felt like protection begins to feel like control. Fiadh reframes doubt as betrayal, guilt as loyalty, and fear as weakness, tightening her grip as Nolan pulls away.

Through tense, intimate dialogue and shifting power dynamics, Dead Wrong exposes how manipulation thrives in close relationships and how easily care can become coercion. The play tracks Nolan’s growing awareness as he confronts the possibility that the person he trusted most has shaped his reality for years.

Dead Wrong asks what happens when devotion is weaponised and whether recognising the truth is enough to escape it. It is an unsettling exploration of gaslighting, moral responsibility and the courage it takes to walk away from the people who know how to hurt you best.

Fruitcake Productions acknowledges the traditional Owners of the land on which we create, work and live; the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation and pay our respects to Elders of this land. We recognise the past atrocities against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of this land and the lost of language, communities and story due to genocide and dispossession.  Sovereignty has never been ceded. It always was and always will be, Aboriginal land.

We also acknowledge the role of English institutions past and present in global colonisation and oppression. As a company we aim to engage with and resist continued colonial structures within the theatre space and beyond. We thrive to make Fruitcake Productions a Safe, Inclusive and Diverse for Theatre Makers Everywhere.
